Free Crochet/Knit Toys

My friend had a baby shower last summer and I decided to crochet some toys
for the little bundle of joy.

One toy would not be enough, so I decided on two, which later turned into 4.

I crocheted 3 toy patterns and knit one. They are all FREE.

I began with the knitted fish pattern that can be found HERE
 
I then tried my hand at crocheting a turtle that can be found HERE

The airplane was also a fun project to crochet and can be found HERE
The pattern also includes a truck and a car. ( I have not made them... YET)


I finished by crocheting an elephant (which I think is so adorable) and can be found HERE
There is an extensive picture tutorial on how to crochet it (which I found quite helpful)
The elephant is put together while you crochet. No need for sewing !


Gauge is not so essential for any of these patterns.
I used a soft baby acrylic for the fish and turtle and cotton for the elephant and airplane.
The patterns are pretty straight forward and easy to read.

With a little patience and creativity I would make any one of these toys again !

Free Crochet Hand Bag and Pullover

This time I decided to try my hand at a couple crochet projects.

The bag was made with Bernat Handicrafter Cotton. (Purple/White/Blue mix)

I used the big ball of it and had lots left over. Enough to make another for a gift !
 (the recipient LOVED it!)

I lined the bag and put a snap to close it.

There are 3 sizes to the pattern if you have too much stuff to fit in a tiny bag like this one.

The other crochet project I finished is the Persimmon Pullover

I had some Patons Grace  cotton left over and it was just the right amount.

It came out nicely and I like to add a splash of colour underneath with solid shirts.

Winter Hat - Lattice Pattern

First blog of the year.... OR EVER !!

I knit and now I recently crochet. (I am a much better knitter)

I finished a hat that is very fun and interesting.

I picked up a skein of Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash PAINTS without any ideas of what to do with it and I turned it into a winter hat !






















The FREE knitted hat pattern I followed was the Neon Lattice Cap from the Ebook download

Slip all Stitches pwise with yarn held in back

Lattice Pattern
Rnds 3-5: *sl 1, k4, sl 1, rep from * to end


I used the same number of stitches and followed the pattern to a tee.
Because the yarn I was using was thinner than the pattern I repeated the Lattice Pattern (rnds 1-12)  twice before decreasing.

If I would make another one I think I would make the ribbing a bit longer. I like the striped colours.

It was a fun a semi-quick project !
